"A retirement party was held September 25. 2004 at the Allen Family Sequoia Grove Winery, Napa Valley, CA., to toast Jim's departure from the vineyards.  Guests numbered in the hundreds, including  family ( Jim's lovely wife, Renata; daughter, Alicia; brother, Steve and his wife, Joan; brother, Mike and his wife, Ellie and their son and daughter), many owners of neighboring vineyards, company employees, and sales reps/distributors from Europe and the states.  I was present to represent the RHS Class of '52 - since Ben and Christel Cornacchio were touring Europe.   What's Jimbo going to do with all his free time?  He says that he plans to write a book (watch out Muds), travel and clean out the garage of their new home in Yountville - 4 miles from Sequoia Grove.  Better check with him in several months to see if he really has a plan.    One thing for sure, Jim and his vino growers/lovers really know how to throw a party."
